The 2025 George Bolitho Shield final took place by kind permission at Cape Cornwall Golf Club on Sunday 30th November.
The defending 2024 champions, Falmouth, faced a strong team from St Austell Golf Club, and the players were treated to a beautiful sunny day. With outstanding views over the Atlantic and towards the Isles of Scilly, Cape Cornwall was in excellent condition, providing the perfect setting for an exciting afternoon of junior golf.

In the first match, Falmouth’s Izzy Wakeling took on Morley Lambert of St Austell. Wakeling was 1 Up after 16 holes and held her nerve on the 17th, holing a four-foot putt to stay ahead heading down the last. Both players made solid pars on the 18th, giving Falmouth a 1 Up victory.
In Match 4, Falmouth’s Jenson Davis produced some excellent golf to defeat St Austell’s Olivia Tucker, while in Match 5 St Austell’s Owen Withers recovered from an early deficit to beat Falmouth’s Harry Carter. Both of these matches finished 5 & 4. After three matches the scoreboard stood at Falmouth 2 – 1 St Austell, with two matches still in progress.
Match 2 saw another tight contest as Falmouth’s Rory Julian faced St Austell’s Luca Vercoe. The pair were all square after 16, but Julian won the 17th to go dormie 1. As in the opening match, both players made fine pars on the last, giving Julian a 1 Up win. This point was enough to secure Falmouth the 2025 Bolitho Shield.
In Match 3, St Austell’s Edwin Grubert defeated Falmouth’s Aiden Jones by 2 Up, completing the final score: Falmouth 3 – 2 St Austell.
The match was played in excellent spirit, and it was fantastic to see such high-quality golf from all the juniors involved. Many thanks go to the junior organisers and parents for their support, and to Cape Cornwall Golf Club for being outstanding hosts for the final.
